Kusamakura (grass pillow) is an archaic term that represents voyage, or sojourn. Since ancient times, people have ventured forth in search of discovery, leading to more fulfilling lives. The Kusamakura inn will bring a new sense of meaning to your time spent in Kyoto. Our inn is uniquely designed in the style of a Kyoto mercantile home, allowing our guests to experience life in the ancient capital.
These stand-alone mercantile home suites in modern-day Kawaramachi have been brought to life in contemporary fashion from Kyoto mercantile homes dating back over a century. The moment you open the front door, an inner garden—a unique feature of Kyoto homes—beckons you inside. The living room features a large sofa and subdued grass-colored walls inviting you to relax.
There are two bedrooms on the second floor, and a large closet necessary for Kyoto life.
Our inn is perfect for long-term stays, as the rooms are equipped with every amenity necessary for daily life. Welcome to Kusamakura.
Accommodation only available for one group per night
Capacity: up to five patrons
